City Infra Development Fund (CIDF) is to be implemented in the six large cities of the State of Assam, namely Silchar, Tinsukia, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Nagaon and Tezpur by the Govt. of Assam. Each city will be allocated Rs. 200 Crore for implementation of CIDF to develop projects like river-front, public parks, Landmark Roads, Marriage Halls, District Libraries, District Level Stadia, etc.
Objective of the CIDF Scheme:
- To identify the critical city infrastructure deficiencies in each of these six cities with active public participation.
- To invest the CIDF in signature projects to address some major critical deficiencies in a time bound manner, preferably from 24-36 months.
- To invest the funds in such a way that the assets so created would provide maximum benefit is provided to a large proportion of the citizens of the cities rather than helping a particular street/ward.
- To make an effort to synergise with the existing resource of funds such as Central Schemes, MP/MLA funds, if any.
